Ingredients

4 cups raw walnut halves

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

1. Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker crock, then add the raw walnut halves.

2. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon until combined.

3. Pour the brown sugar mixture over the walnuts and stir well so the nuts are evenly coated.

4. Cover and cook on low for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, until the walnuts are fragrant and coated in a glossy syrup.

5. Spoon the walnuts onto parchment paper or serve warm right away as a dessert topping or sweet snack.

Variations & Tips

Add a pinch of salt: If you like that sweet-and-salty balance, add a small pinch of salt with the cinnamon. It helps round out the sweetness and makes the walnut flavor pop a little more.

Serve over ice cream: This is probably my favorite way to turn these into a quick dessert after dinner. Spoon the warm walnuts and syrup over vanilla ice cream and it tastes like something much fancier than four ingredients.

Let them cool for a snackable texture: If you spread the finished walnuts on parchment paper and let them cool completely, the coating firms up a bit and makes them easier to snack on by the handful or package into little jars for gifting.

Watch closely near the end: Slow cookers can run a little differently, so start checking at the 90-minute mark. If the sugar looks like it is getting too dark around the edges, give everything a stir and reduce the cooking time.
