. This is one of our family’s most popular recipes. We made it at least twice a week, both at Grandma’s and Mom’s, and it was always a hit. This gratin is creamy, flavorful, and easy to make, perfect for both weekdays and weekends. This version is described in detail, along with tips and variations to ensure the best results.

 Ingredients (for 4–6 servings):
4 large potatoes
2 medium onions
150 g grated cheese
150 g cheddar cheese
8 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
½ dl butter
Carrots (optional )
Chives

 Preheat oven:
Preheat oven to 180°C and grease a baking dish (approx. 13 x 9 cm) with butter or use parchment paper. This will prevent the casserole from sticking and will give it a nice surface.

 Peel and grate potatoes:
Peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely.

For best results, choose firm potatoes that don’t melt in your mouth when grated. If the potatoes are very juicy, gently squeeze out excess liquid with your hands or a paper towel.
