👩🍳 How to prepare homemade shakshuka?
1. Prepare the vegetables
Wash the peppers thoroughly and then remove the seeds and white parts.
Cut them into thin strips.
Then peel the onion and slice it finely. Chop the garlic clove as well.
💡 Tip: Fairly thin strips allow the peppers to cook more quickly and become very tender in the sauce.
2. Sauté the onion and spices
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large frying pan.
Add the chopped onion, paprika and ras el hanout.
Fry for a few minutes over medium heat, until the onion begins to become soft and lightly browned.
This step allows the spices to gradually release their aromas.
3. Add the peppers and tomatoes
Add the pepper slices and chopped garlic.
Sauté for a few minutes, stirring regularly.
Then pour in the crushed tomatoes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir to a stir and then simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the sauce begins to thicken.
For an even more melting texture, you can slightly extend the cooking over low heat.
