Yeast activation:
Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Sugar
Let stand for 5 to 7 minutes, until the mixture is frothy.
Preparation of the dough:
Add the flour, salt, and oil to the yeast mixture.
Mix until you have a soft dough.
Knead for 8 to 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic
(add a little flour if it is sticky).
First collection:
Lightly grease the bowl.
Place the dough in the bowl and cover.
Let rise in a warm place for 45 to 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Shaping the bread:
Gently flatten the dough.
Shape it into a round bread or roll.
Place it in a greased pan.
Second round:
Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
Cooking:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (gas mark 6).
Bake for 22 to 25 minutes, until the bread is golden brown.
Brush the top with butter for an extra fluffy loaf.
Tips for a very soft and airy bread:
Use lukewarm water, never hot.
Knead well – this will make the bread airy.
Cover the bread with a kitchen towel while it cools.
Replace the water with warm milk if you want a denser bread. Uses:
