If you are looking for an irresistible, easy to prepare and always triumphant snacks, bread and cheese sticks are the answer. Ideal to accompany a sauce, a soup, or simply to snack between meals. Their freshly baked garlic aroma and melted cheese make them a delight that no one can resist.
Ingredients
For the dough (optional, you can use ready-to-size dough or bread):
2 cups wheat flour (250 g)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon dry yeast (or 10 g fresh)
3/4 cup warm water (180 ml)
2 tablespoons olive oil
For the topping:
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 garlic cloves chopped or pressed
1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar or mixture)
1 teaspoon dry or fresh parsley (optional)
Preparation step by step
1. Prepare the dough
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl, add the warm water and olive oil. Knead until you get a smooth, elastic texture. Cover and let stand for 1 hour until double its size.
💡No time? Use pizza dough bought and skip this step.
2. Shape the sticks
Stretch the dough on a floured surface at a 1 cm thick rectangle. Short strips of the desired size (they can be straight or twisted to give them fun shape).
3. Prepare the garlic and cheese
Mix the melted butter with the chopped garlic. Brush the sticks with this mixture and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Add parsley if you wish.
4. Bake
Place the sticks on a tray with baking paper and bake at 200 °C (392 °F) for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese bubbles.
